On Sunday, December 2nd, 2018, the Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) will host CicLAVia – Heart of LA. Beginning at 9 am, portions of area streets will be closed to vehicular traffic allowing access to pedestrians and cyclists.
Closures are expected to affect 7th street between Figueroa and Broadway, Broadway from 7th street to the Chinatown Metro Station, 1st street from Broadway to Central, 4th street between Central and Boyle, 1st street, St Louis and Cesar E Chavez.
Intended to create a stronger sense of community, CicLAvia closes streets for residents to run, walk, bicycle, or skate upon, limiting their availability for motor vehicles.
Filmmakers should be aware of street closures and crossing points along the event route (see the map below) and discuss potential conflicts with FilmL.A. when applying for permits to film in the vicinity.
Even those not filming in the event area should take traffic impacts into consideration. Road closures will begin as early as 6 a.m. and will remain in place until approximately 3:30 p.m.
As always, FilmL.A. is available to assist you with filming logistics. Should you have any questions about how CicLAvia could affect your filming plans, please contact FilmL.A.’s Production Planning Team at (213) 977-8600.
