The City of Gardena has approved an agreement with FilmLA establishing the not-for-profit as the film permit coordinator for the area. FilmLA will now accept applications for permits to film within Gardena’s city limits.
The City of Gardena is located in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County. The city is known as the “Freeway City’ and is bordered by the 110 freeway to the east, the 405 freeway to the south, and the 105 freeway to the north.
Gardena touts many diverse locations for filming, including a 16,000 square foot library: Gardena Mayme Dear, Memorial Hospital of Gardena, the Nissin Foods plant, and the Hustler Casino.
“I’m thrilled that the City of Gardena will be working with FilmLA,” said Gardena City Mayor, Tasha Cerda. “I’m confident that this new partnership will be as beneficial to Gardena as it will the film industry.”
The City is known for its rich cultural diversity and beautiful landscaping. Gardena is a family-oriented City with many programs to meet the needs of both the family and single population.
“We are excited about our partnership with Gardena and equally excited to showcase all that the City has to offer.” said FilmLA’s Vice President of Operations, Donna Washington. “Gardena’s film-friendly policies, openness to flexibility and various unique locations makes it a desirable place to film.”
A selection of publicly owned Gardena properties is currently being cataloged for inclusion in FilmLA’s online location library, LocoScout.
