Holiday Moratoriums, Permit Deadlines and Hours of Operation

Production Alert July 4th

Each year, to reduce the impacts of construction, events, and filming on shoppers and retail businesses during the holiday season, multiple jurisdictions served by FilmLA, including the City of Los Angeles, implement temporary restrictions on production activity in commercial districts.

City of Los Angeles Holiday Moratorium

Lane closures, street closures, and street parking will be prohibited in commercial/retail areas of the City of Los Angeles during the following dates:

  • November 26 – November 30
  • December 5-7
  • December 12-28
  • January 1, 2026

In some cases, these holiday restrictions may be waived for short-term work such as a service connection, a public safety emergency, or an activity that city officials otherwise deem a necessity.

Individual filming requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Any requested activity must meet a standard of minimal impact that satisfies ordinary approvers and additional city contacts.

City of Glendale Holiday Moratorium

The city of Glendale’s offices will be closed from December 19, 2025 – January 4, 2026.

The city will resume accepting applications on January 5th, 2026, for filming on January 9th. Please see the holiday deadlines for more detailed information.

City of San Fernando Holiday Moratorium

The City of San Fernando does not allow any filming related activity in the Downtown area (bounded by: Brand Bl., San Fernando Mission Bl., Truman St., and Pico St.) from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day.

LAWA (LAX & Van Nuys Airport) Holiday Moratorium

Van Nuys Airport:

  • Filming moratorium from November 16th – January 19th
  • Base camp and parking moratorium from November 16th – January 30th

LAX:

  • At time of publication, we are still awaiting details. This alert will be updated as soon as they become available. Please check back regularly.
