On a Sunday, March 22, 2015, the Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) will host the first ever CicLAvia event in the San Fernando Valley. Beginning at 9 am, 5.5 miles of area streets along Lankershim Boulevard, from Universal City to North Hollywood ending at Coldwater Canyon will be closed. Intended to create a stronger sense of community in the San Fernando Valley, the event closes street for residents to run, walk, bicycle, or skate upon, limiting their availability for motor vehicles.
Filmmakers should be aware of street closures and crossing points along the event route (see the map on the following page) and discuss potential conflicts with FilmL.A. when applying for permits to film in the vicinity.
Even those not filming in the event area should take traffic impacts into consideration. Road closures will begin as early as 6 a.m. and will remain in place until approximately 3:30 p.m.
As always, FilmL.A. is available to assist you with filming logistics. Should you have any questions about how CicLAvia could affect your filming plans, please contact FilmL.A.’s Production Planning Team at (213) 977-8600.
