Earlier this month, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for the 2017 Golden Globes. And in all, Los Angeles based projects received 35 total nominations!
Leading in Golden Globes nominations was LaLa Land with seven nominations including Best Motion Picture. The nomination for Best Performance by and Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy went to Ryan Gosling, Best Performance by and Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy went to Emma Stone, Best Director-Damien Chazelle, Best Original Screenplay, Best Song and Best Score.
Next in line for the Los Angeles region was The People VS O.J. Simpson with five nominations including Best Limited Series, Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for Courtney B. Vance, Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series for Motion Picture Made for Television for Sarah Paulson, Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series for Motion Picture Made for Television for Sterling K Brown and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series for Motion Picture Made for Television for John Travolta.
Other feature projects receiving nominations are Rules Don’t Apply, Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy Lily Collins and 20th Century Woman, Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
In animation, Zootopia received the Best Animated Feature nom and so did Moana.
With 3 nominations each, This Is Us, Westworld and Blackish are tied as television favorites.
This Is Us received nominations for Best Television Series – Drama, Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television: Chrissy Metz and Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television: Mandy Moore.
Westworld received nominations for Best Television Series – Drama, Best Actress in a Drama Series – Evan Rachel Wood, and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series – Thandie Newton.
Blackish received nominations for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, Anthony Anderson and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, Tracee Ellis-Ross.
Transparent received two nominations Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy: Jeffrey Tambor.
California Film & TV Tax Credit recipient and relocating show Veep also received two nominations Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Rounding out the television nominations is Ray Donovan, Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama Liev Schreiber, Crazy Ex Girlfriend Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy Rachel Bloom, Jane the Virgin, Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy Gina Rodriguez, Goliath Best Actor in a Television Series, Drama, Billy Bob Thornton, All The Way, Best Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television Brian Cranston, and Insecure, Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy Issa Rae.
