Production Alert Santa Monica

A new organization, Film Santa Monica, created by the Santa Monica Travel & Tourism Office, in coordination with the City of Santa Monica, will be coordinating Santa Monica film permits effective September 1, 2025.

FilmLA has served as a liaison between the film production community and the City of Santa Monica since 2013, coordinating more than 7,000 film permit applications. In that time, FilmLA has worked with the City to significantly align its processes with the California Film Commission’s Model Film Ordinance. We hope that important work will continue.

“We have enjoyed serving the City of Santa Monica and its residents, as we do for all of the 16 other jurisdictions we partner with in Los Angeles and Orange County,” said FilmLA President Paul Audley.

“We wish City leaders and Film Santa Monica well in their mission of service to the local filmmaking community.”

“We extend our sincere gratitude to FilmLA for their many years of dedication and support in advancing filming and production throughout our city. Their contributions have been invaluable,” the City of Santa Monica said in a statement. “As we look to the future, we’re excited to welcome Film Santa Monica onboard to serve as the central hub for marketing and permitting commercial filming in the city.”

FilmLA will continue to service all applications for filming in the City of Santa Monica submitted on or before August 31, 2025. Our Solution Services team will also continue to be available to answer questions and run location checks and cost projections, etc., through that date.

New inquiries and applications submitted after September 1, 2025, should be directed to Film Santa Monica (www.filmsantamonica.com – coming soon!).  You may also contact Evan Edwards, Chief Operating Officer for Santa Monica Travel & Tourism, with questions at eedwards@santamonica.com or (310) 319-6263.
