Presented by Audi and taking place in Hollywood, the AFI Fest is the American Film Institute’s annual festival, presenting a program of new international cinema from filmmakers from across the globe. Recognized by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, AFI Fest is a qualifying festival for the annual Academy Awards® short film categories. Featuring red-carpet galas, special screenings, post-screening conversations and tributes, this festival has been a staple in LA film culture since 1971.
Recognizing that the AFI FEST is also among the best opportunities to engage with established and emerging auteurs, FilmL.A. sponsored an invitation-only filmmakers brunch on November 12, 2014 at Messhall Kitchen in Los Feliz.
The brunch provided a unique networking environment for a group of 75 producers and production professionals. It was also an opportunity for FilmL.A. to pitch Los Angeles as a location and talent source for future film projects.
After brunch the group went on a tour of lesser-known potential film locations in the city. The tour included a trip to locations in Griffith Park, other parklands and farm properties.
“Its always gratifying to hear positive reactions from filmmakers about opportunities to film in L.A.,” observed FilmL.A. President Paul Audley.
Filmmakers are encouraged to follow FilmL.A. on Facebook and Twitter for news about upcoming sponsored events.
