The City of Monterey Park recently approved an agreement with FilmL.A., establishing the not-for-profit as the film permit coordinator for the area.  FilmL.A. began accepting applications for permits to film within the Monterey Park city limits in late November.

The 7.73 square mile city is located in the San Gabriel Valley.  Monterey Park is just 10 minutes east of Downtown Los Angeles and is conveniently located near three major freeways which provide access to all of Southern California–the Long Beach Freeway (710) borders on the west, Interstate 10 on the north and State Highway 60 to the south.

Monterey Park is home to the beautiful Cascades Waterfall in Cascades Park, the Garvey Ranch Observatory located in Garvey Ranch Park and the iconic Sybil Brand County Jail.  Other notable locations are the Atlantic Times Square, Monterey Park Village and the Jardin El Encanto.  Erected in 1929, the Spanish-style building is home to beautiful tile and hand painted woodwork.

A selection of publicly-owned Monterey Park area properties are currently being cataloged for inclusion in FilmL.A.’s online location library, LocoScout (www.locoscout.com).

“FilmL.A. is honored to represent Monterey Park and to help filmmakers do business there and take care of its residents and local businesses,” said FilmL.A. President Paul Audley.  “We thank city officials for their trust and look forward to a lasting professional relationship.”
