FilmL.A. Engaging Strategic Partners to Encourage Local Filming

Do you find yourself seeing FilmL.A.’s logo in more places these days?  FilmL.A.’s efforts to attract and retain film production in the Greater Los Angeles Region are again in full swing for summer.

In April, FilmL.A. partnered with the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival for the second consecutive year. The festival kicked off with the screening of “KTown” at the Aratani Japan American Theater. “KTown” was produced by actor/filmmaker Ken Jeong.

Also in its second year is FilmLA’s partnership with the Newport Beach Film Festival.  During the Festival, FilmL.A. staffers attended screenings and post screening galas to market our Los Angeles and Orange County client locations to filmmakers.

In May, FilmL.A. sent a delegation to the California Contract Cities Association’s 2015 Conference.  The Contract Cities Conference provided FilmL.A. staffers the opportunity to speak with our municipal partners and advance sound policy recommendations like the California Film Commission’s Model Film Ordinance.

That same month, FilmL.A. executives hosted a meeting with California State Controller Betty Yee and local business leaders from the Los Angeles Business Federation to discuss the state’s financial policy. In May, FilmL.A. also had a staff presence at PGA’s Produced By Conference and Digital Hollywood.

The month of June brought the LA Film Festival, the LA region’s premiere film festival for independent filmmakers.  FilmL.A. staffers attending screenings and receptions to encourage filmmakers to bring future projects to our region.

FilmL.A. exhibited at the Film In California Conference sponsored by the California Film Commission, the FLICS and CBS Studio Center. The Film In California Conference celebrates California’s film and entertainment industry with seminars and events that promote filming state-wide. FilmL.A. also attended Women In Film’s Crystal + Lucy Awards and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) Gala.
