FilmLA’s New ‘Beta’ System for Beach Reservations Expands to Include GSD, HCID Properties

FilmLAProduction Alerts

In September, FilmLA introduced a new beta reservation system making it easier for filmmakers to identify and reserve Los Angeles County-operated beaches for filming related activity.

Tomorrow, 11/13/19, the beta system will begin accepting reservations for filming related activity at FilmLA’s offices, the Los Angeles City’s Department of General Services (GSD) and Housing Community Investment Development (HCIDLA) properties.

By using the online tool, filmmakers will be able to easily identify the availability of beaches, FilmLA office areas, GSD and HCID properties for filming on specific dates, and request to reserve available sections for filming.

Once an inquiry has been received, a system generated message will quickly follow. Availability information will be as accurate and as real-time as FilmLA can make it, based on updates sent to us from LA County Beaches & Harbors, Department of General Services and Housing Community Investment Development departments, and as with the current process, Beaches and Harbors, GSD, HCID and FilmLA will continue to review and approve all requests.

In order to film at any of the aforementioned locations, a reservation holder must also apply for a film permit, allowing FilmLA and the Department of Beaches & Harbors, Department of General Services and Housing Community Investment Development department to review all proposed activity to protect the locations and the public.

FilmLA will continue to expand the reservation system to include parks, government buildings, and other reservable properties, in the near future.
