Celebrating the Region’s Creative Industry – Golden Globes Showcase LA in 2020 Awards Season

Los Angeles based projects fared well at the 77th annual Golden Globe awards this year.  Local film and television productions were nominated in 35 categories this year including Best Motion Picture, Best Limited Series and Best Animated Feature.

In all, local productions walked away with five statuettes. Regional winners in film included, “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” which won three awards including Best Director – Quentin Tarantino, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Brad Pitt) and Best Screen Play. Tarantino’s 9th film follows a faded television actor and his stunt double as they strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood’s Golden Age. “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” features Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning, Al Pacino and the late Luke Perry.

Rocketman,” a biographical musical drama film based on the life of musician Elton John, took two awards including Best Original Song for “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” and Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Taron Egerton). “Rocketman” stars Richard Madden, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jamie Bell, Steven Mackintosh and Stephen Graham.

The Netflix motion picture, “Marriage Story,” won the award for best Actress in a Supporting Role (Laura Dern). “Marriage Story” is about stage director and his actor wife who struggles through a gruelling, coast-to-coast divorce which pushes them to their personal and creative extremes. The film completed its west coast scenes at Warner Bros Studios, Burbank.
