Each year, FilmL.A. ramps up its efforts to attract and retain film production in the Greater Los Angeles Region. One of the ways we work to make this happen is by participation in events like the American Film Market (AFM).

Every November, the City of Santa Monica opens its doors to one of the independent film community’s most–anticipated conferences. In the growing independent film space, AFM is known as the place where production and distribution deals are inked and cemented.

AFM Attendees have the chance to mix and mingle with over 8,000 film industry professionals, producers, directors, distributors, marketers, film commissioners and others who travel from across the world to gather in one place for 8 days of screenings, seminars, networking and deal closing. FilmL.A. has been a sponsor of the conference since 2012, bringing staff and resources from its Hollywood office to network with attendees at the Loews Hotel.

Produced by the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA), AFM is the largest conference of its kind, with a reach that spans the globe. FilmL.A. uses its attendance as an opportunity to converse with filmmakers about the advantages of working in Greater Los Angeles, including services provided by FilmL.A. and access to the California Film & TV Tax Credit Program administered by the California Film Commission.
